The Illinois Police Insurance Exchange gives members of the Illinois Police Benevolent and Protection Association (PBPA) a new way to manage their health insurance needs.  This online resource offers both active and retired officers and their families direct access to affordable health, dental, and short-term insurance plans from leading insurers.

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is the new health care law that helps ensure everyone in the U.S. has access to health insurance.  The Illinois Police Insurance Exchange enables PBPA members to shop for personalized plans from insurance providers, get up-to-date information on health insurance and the ACA, and find out about available subsidies.

2014 Health Care Deadlines:
March 15, 2014 is the last day to get coverage by April 1.
March 31, 2014 is the final day to sign up for 2014 insurance coverage.

(Those who do not have health insurance by March 31, 2014, will be charged a penalty tax.  In 2014 that is 1% of your household income or $95 per adult and $47.50 per child, whichever is greater.  The uninsured penalty will increase every year.)

2015 enrollment begins November 15, 2014. Once the 2014 enrollment period ends March 31, no one will be able to sign up for health care through the exchanges until November 15 without a qualifying event (such as: moving to a new state, certain changes in your income, and changes in your family size.)
