On behalf of PBPA and the rest of the Coalition of Frontline Police Officers, we are asking our members to file slips of support of Amendment 1 to HB 3114. The Amendment is being considered by the Labor & Commerce Committee tomorrow (Wednesday March 22, 2023) at 9:00 am.
It permits police officers from “shift commander” down to organize. Largely, this provides parity with what firefighters currently enjoy. In case you did not know, currently, it is very difficult to organize police supervisors at any level (even sergeants). For instance, sergeants in large cities like Elgin and Arlington Heights have been denied the ability to organize.
Slips can be filed here: https://my.ilga.gov/WitnessSlip/Create/148268?committeeHearingId=19982&LegislationId=148268&LegislationDocumentId=186637
